GREENWOOD, Miss.–River flooding and flash flooding are both possible with a storms system that is parked over Mississippi and is expected to dump several inches of heavy rain over the next few days.
“Heavy rain is possible with flash flooding likely across the region early Wednesday through Thursday,” said National Weather Service Jackson office, lead forecaster David Cox. “Four to eight inches is expected with locally higher amounts possible.”
While Delta counties won’t see the highest potential for the heaviest rain, the four to eight inches could create travel difficulties.
“Multiple rounds of heavy rain are expected,” explained Cox, noting that the heaviest rain will likely end Thursday, giving you a drying out period, before more rain comes in Friday. It ends Saturday.
No severe weather is expected in Delta counties.
