House Discusses Bill for Pink Hunting Vests

SHARE NOW

JACKSON, Miss.–You may soon be able to wear a pink vest to hunt. A bill to allow the color in addition to hunter’s orange, passed with four dissenting votes in the Mississippi House Tuesday.

“Who wanted this bill?” asked Rep. John Hines, of Washington, Bolivar and Issaquena counties.
“The people of Mississippi,” responded Rep. Jimmy Fondren, of Jackson County. “The people want pink. So, we should give ’em pink.”
Fondren said the bill is designed to encourage more people to hunt by providing some variety in the allowed garb.
“Do you think men would be encouraged to do more hunting since they are after stuff in pink?” asked Hines.
“I don’t think pink discriminates on gender, gentleman,” responded Fondren.
After several less serious inquiries about the bill, one representative asked if pink was an appropriate color because some people may be color blind, thus presenting a danger to the person choosing to wear pink.
The bill must pass the state Senate to become law.
