Straight-Line Winds Damage Parts of the Delta

INDIANOLA, Miss.–It was apparently straight-line winds that caused damage this weekend in Sunflower County and other parts of the Delta when storms moved through Friday morning.
In Indianola several trees were blown down and some flash flooding was reported in other cities.
The only tornadoes confirmed so far were in Lowndes County, in the Golden Triangle.
The National Weather Service said and EF-1 tornado, with top winds of 90 mph touched down near Caledonia around 5 Friday morning, and a second, weaker EF-0 tornado touched down in the county a little while later.
Once severe weather moves through and emergency managers report damage by a suspected tornado, National Weather Service survey teams look at the damage and assess whether it was caused by a tornado and determine by the damage how strong it may have been.
