Entergy Mississippi Reports Thousands Without Power After Storms

SHARE NOW

Severe weather wreaked havoc across Entergy Mississippi’s service area, as thunderstorms, hail, lightning, and high winds battered the state Tuesday night and persisted into Wednesday. The onslaught left a trail of extensive damage to facilities, plunging 33,600 customers into darkness at its peak. As of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, 25,853 customers remained without power. A concerted effort is underway to address the aftermath, with a workforce comprising damage assessors, vegetation crews, line workers, and support personnel working tirelessly to restore power promptly and safely.

Additional assistance has been mobilized, with reinforcements expected to arrive throughout the evening. Damage assessment, currently at 44 percent completion, has revealed the toll of the storm, including 107 poles, 420 spans of downed wire, 19 transformers, and 46 crossarms in need of repair or replacement. While many customers can anticipate restoration tonight, the severity and breadth of the damages mean that numerous areas, including Natchez, Brookhaven, Clinton, Vicksburg, Jackson, Madison, Rankin, Carthage, Cleveland, Indianola, Charleston, and Senatobia, will face continued outages into the night.

Restoration timelines will be updated as assessments progress and repairs are carried out. Entergy Mississippi advises affected customers to inspect their electrical equipment for damage and, if safe to do so, report outages by calling 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).
