OXFORD, Miss.–A now former probation officer who focused on helping sex offenders with reentry into society must now himself register as a sex offender when he is released from prison in ten years. Lonnie Everill, 46, of Water Valley, received that sentence in federal court in Oxford Monday.
Everill pleaded guilty to child exploitation in January for receiving child pornography.
Everill was a federal probation officer, working in Mississippi, Utah, California and South Carolina.
In addition to the prison sentence and having to register as a sex offender, Everill was ordered to pay $13,000 in restitution and various fines.
