COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss.- An 18-wheeler overturned early Tuesday on U.S. Highway 61 South near Bobo, leaving one person with severe injuries, authorities said.
Coahoma County Fire Department crews and Pafford EMS were dispatched to the scene around 1:56 a.m. after receiving reports of a rollover crash involving a commercial truck. Firefighters arrived to find one individual suffering from severe traumatic injuries.
Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment at the scene before the injured person was airlifted to a regional trauma center. The individual’s condition was not immediately available.
Firefighters from the Lyon and Bobo areas assisted in the response. Two heavy-duty wreckers, Lutts Wrecker Service and Jay Wrecker Service, were used to recover the overturned truck.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
