CLARKSDALE, Miss. — The Clarksdale Police Department is continuing its investigation into the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Nataurean Lofton.
Police said Lofton was shot multiple times around 10 p.m. on April 24 while sitting inside a vehicle parked along a roadway with his girlfriend and their two children.
Authorities said Lofton’s girlfriend drove him to Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center following the shooting. He was later transferred to Regional One Health for additional treatment.
Investigators said Lofton underwent multiple surgeries but died from his injuries on May 1.
In a statement, police extended condolences to the Lofton family and described the shooting as violence that “has no place in our community.”
The department is asking anyone with information about the case to contact Sgt. Morgan or Cpl. Grimes at 662-621-8151. Officials said even small details could assist investigators and help bring justice to the family.
