Tunica County Deputies Detain Memphis Man During Traffic Stop Investigation

TUNICA, Miss. — A Memphis man already out on bond for a murder charge in Sunflower County was detained Monday afternoon following an altercation at a Tunica service station, according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were conducting a traffic stop at about 1:10 p.m. Monday, May 25, when they were alerted to an altercation in the parking lot of Zip Trip Service Station, the sheriff’s office said.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they de-escalated the situation and detained 20-year-old Kemarion Ward of Memphis, Tennessee, according to authorities.

Officials said charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The sheriff’s office also said Ward is currently out on bond on a murder charge in Sunflower County and faces several additional charges in Indianola.

No further details about the altercation or potential charges were immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
