GREENVILLE, Miss. — A Greenville man has been charged with murder after voluntarily surrendering to police and reporting that he had fatally shot a woman, authorities said.
According to the Greenville Police Department, the man entered police headquarters at approximately 11:42 a.m. on June 25 and told officers he had shot a woman on Alexander Street. After identifying himself, the suspect declined to provide additional details without an attorney present.
Police identified the suspect as Rodney Haney. Investigators said Haney identified the victim as Minnie Coffey and told officers the two had been in a dating relationship for approximately four years.
Investigators responded to the scene, took Haney into custody and launched an investigation. Haney was later charged with murder in connection with Coffey’s death.
The investigation remains active.
