GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville police are investigating after a deceased individual was found near the 1500 block of Thornton Street.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers responded after a passerby reported seeing what appeared to be a body alongside the roadway.
When officers arrived, they located an unidentified deceased individual.
The Washington County coroner responded to the scene and took custody of the remains. Authorities said the body has been sent to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the person’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death.
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives continue processing evidence and pursuing investigative leads.
