GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville police have arrested a man and charged him with capital murder in connection with a deadly shooting at a Greenville hotel last month.
The shooting occurred July 13 at about 1:38 a.m. at the Country Inn Hotel on Highway 82 East. Officers responding to a report of a person being shot found two male victims, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Demarcus Wright was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
A second victim, identified as Arion Deshon Thompson of Indianola, Mississippi, was found unresponsive and later died from his injuries.
Investigators said several people allegedly arrived at the hotel in a white SUV and attempted to rob Wright. An altercation followed, and gunfire erupted, police said.
Thompson was fatally shot and Wright was wounded.
Through the investigation, detectives identified Dejuan Kimble as a suspect. Kimble was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with Thompson’s death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional arrests or charges may follow.
