GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville police are investigating a shooting Sunday night that left an adult woman injured in the 900 block of East Lynn Circle.
Officers responded to the area about 9:36 p.m. after receiving a report of an aggravated assault involving gunfire.
According to the Greenville Police Department, a preliminary investigation indicates an altercation occurred between two people earlier in the evening. One of the individuals reportedly left the area and later returned with another person.
Witnesses told investigators that a second confrontation occurred, during which a firearm was allegedly retrieved from a vehicle and multiple shots were fired toward people at the residence.
An adult woman was struck in the hip and sustained an apparent graze wound to her forehead. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators remained at the scene interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence as they worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police said persons of interest have been identified and investigators are following leads. No names have been released because the investigation remains active.
