CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Coahoma Community College’s Practical Nursing program has maintained a 100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses, with 18 students successfully passing the exam.
The results mark the program’s fourth consecutive year with a 100% NCLEX-PN pass rate and another milestone for the college’s Health Sciences Division.
The students who successfully passed the NCLEX-PN are:
Kriti Wells, Yasmine Malone, Tanedra Christian, Davette Marbley, Mariah Miller, Jimmya Bailey, Lileshia Benson, Gabrielle Gardner, Tabbitha Gooch, Chelsea Goode, Sha’Nyla Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Latasha Jones, Uniquequa Jones-Stewart, Brianna Marshall, A’Keriah Whitehead, Cameron Wilks and Larissa Wright.
The program’s results reflect its focus on classroom instruction, clinical preparation, critical-thinking skills and preparation for professional licensure.
Coahoma Community College President Dr. Valmadge Towner congratulated the students, faculty and Health Sciences Division leadership on the achievement.
“Hats off and congratulations to our practical nursing students,” Towner said. “Their collective accomplishments serve as an indicator of their individual competency levels and the group’s overall proficiency. Maintaining a 100% passing rate is also attestation to the effectiveness of the division’s leadership and classroom instructors.”
Towner said the results demonstrate the preparation students receive at Coahoma.
“We are thrilled for the program and we celebrate the health sciences leadership, faculty and students,” Towner said. “It is encouraging to know that many of our future health care providers are adept in their field and they were trained right here by faculty of Coahoma Community College.”
Under the leadership of Dr. Chequitia Dixon, dean of the Health Sciences Division, the Practical Nursing program combines nursing theory, skills-based instruction, laboratory experiences and clinical education to prepare students for professional nursing practice.
Dixon said the four-year record reflects the work of both students and faculty.
“We are exceptionally proud of our Practical Nursing graduates for achieving a 100% NCLEX-PN passage rate for the fourth consecutive year,” Dixon said. “This sustained record of success reflects the excellence of our students, the dedication of our faculty, and our institution’s unwavering commitment to academic and professional excellence.”
Dixon said the division remains focused on preparing graduates to enter the health care field.
“We congratulate our graduates and faculty on this remarkable achievement and remain committed to preparing highly qualified nursing professionals who will make a meaningful impact in the communities they serve,” she said.
Practical Nursing Program Director Teri Williams also credited the students and faculty for the program’s continued success.
“We are incredibly proud of the continued success of our students,” Williams said. “Achieving a 100% NCLEX pass rate for four consecutive years is a remarkable milestone that reflects the strength of our Practical Nursing program and the high standards of excellence we continuously strive to maintain.”
Williams said the achievement reflects the commitment of faculty members who prepare students throughout their nursing education.
“This accomplishment would not be possible without the continued support and dedication of our faculty, who consistently invest their time, knowledge, and expertise in preparing students to become competent, confident, and compassionate nurses,” she said.
For the graduates, passing the NCLEX-PN represents the culmination of classroom study, laboratory practice, clinical experiences and preparation for professional licensure. Successful completion of the examination allows graduates to continue through the state licensure process and pursue employment opportunities in practical nursing.
The four consecutive years of 100% NCLEX-PN passage represent multiple cohorts of Coahoma students successfully progressing from nursing education to professional licensure.
The achievement also comes as communities across the Mississippi Delta and beyond continue to rely on qualified health care professionals. Coahoma’s Practical Nursing program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and clinical competencies needed to pursue licensure and begin careers in health care.
