GREENVILLE, Miss. — A Greenville man was taken into custody Wednesday following a standoff that stemmed from a domestic-related incident, police said.
The Greenville Police Department said its investigation began Sept. 8 after Quincy Tyrone Eaton allegedly entered a residence on East Moore Street and threatened a victim with an AK-style firearm.
Eaton later allegedly fled from officers, leading police on a high-speed pursuit. The pursuit ended when Eaton crashed on Flanagan Road, police said.
According to police, Eaton then fled into a field while armed with a rifle. During the search, multiple shots were allegedly fired at officers, prompting them to take cover.
Following continued investigative efforts, Eaton was located and taken into custody at about 11 a.m. Wednesday after a standoff, police said.
Eaton faces several felony charges filed by the Greenville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. Police said additional information about the specific charges will be released as the investigation continues.
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
