GREENVILLE, Miss. — Two people were injured Friday night after gunfire was exchanged between multiple individuals in the 200 block of North 9th Street, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Officers responded to the area at approximately 8:51 p.m. Sept. 11 after receiving an alert about shots fired.
Investigators determined that a white sedan carrying several unidentified people traveled through the area and exchanged gunfire with individuals near a residence, police said.
Two people suffered gunshot wounds and were transported by private vehicle to Delta Health System — The Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
Officers recovered multiple firearms, spent shell casings and other evidence from the scene. Two vehicles and a nearby residence were also struck by gunfire.
Police also recovered suspected controlled substances, which were turned over to the Greenville Police Department’s Special Operations Division.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating. Detectives are working to identify those involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
