GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville police arrested a man Thursday in connection with a domestic violence-related incident involving gunfire that occurred Aug. 22.
Officers responded at about 11:28 p.m. to the 500 block of South Colorado Street after receiving a shots-fired alert and a call for service.
Police said officers contacted a woman who reported an altercation with her boyfriend, identified as Rynaren Ferguson.
According to the preliminary investigation, the altercation began inside the residence and became physical. Ferguson allegedly struck the woman before leaving the residence.
Police said Ferguson then damaged the woman’s 2020 Honda Accord by throwing objects at the vehicle. Investigators said Ferguson later produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle.
The vehicle was struck in several areas, including the rear windshield, rear quarter panel and radiator, according to police.
Ferguson reportedly left the area before officers arrived.
Officers found evidence consistent with the reported gunfire, including four spent 9mm cartridge casings and one live 9mm cartridge, police said.
The Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Ferguson was arrested Sept. 24 without incident. He is being held at the Washington Regional Correctional Facility pending his initial court appearance.
Ferguson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
