MOUND BAYOU, Miss. — Three people have been arrested in connection with a Sept. 20 homicide in Mound Bayou that left one man dead and another injured.
The Mound Bayou Police Department said officers responded at about 2:10 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Stringer Avenue.
Officers found 20-year-old Armad Gant suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Gant was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second male victim suffered a superficial gunshot wound and was taken to Bolivar Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Police have identified three suspects in the investigation.
20-year-old Jakyle McKenzie of Ruleville, Mississippi, was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Bond on the first-degree murder charge is listed at $0, while bond on the conspiracy charge was set at $700,000.
19-year-old Sharia Jefferson of Mound Bayou was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and accessory after the fact. Bond on the first-degree murder and conspiracy charges is listed at $0, while bond on the accessory charge was set at $250,000.
20-year-old Izeekia Wykeim Sanders of Greenville was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
All three suspects have been arrested and are being held at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility, according to police.
The investigation remains active, and additional charges or arrests are possible.
