On Friday, Governor Tate Reeves discussed the current situation of COVID-19 in Mississippi.

JACKSON, Miss. (Ben Caxton) –  With the Mississippi State Fair set to happen in October, he was questioned about COVID-19 concerns ahead of the event.

He said the State Fair is more of a business operation rather than a social gathering. The governor also said current precautions set forth in the state may not have to be amended before the event begins.

The 161st Mississippi State Fair runs from October 7 through 18.

During the news conference, the governor was joined by U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson. They addressed recent backwater developments.
