17-Year-Old Arrested in Leland Double Homicide

BOLIVAR COUNTY, Miss. — Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old Greenville teen in connection with a double homicide that occurred last month in Leland.

The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office, Greenville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office jointly assisted in the apprehension of Corde Blackman, a 17-year-old of Greenville. Blackman was wanted in connection with a shooting reported around 11:31 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at a residence in the 300 block of Alexander Street in Shaw.

Deputies were assisting the Shaw Police Department when officers located a gray Nissan Altima that had been struck by gunfire. Two male victims were found inside the vehicle, both suffering fatal gunshot wounds, authorities said.
The victims were identified as Kelavienne Carpenter, a 17-year-old, and Brian Thomas Jr., a 19-year-old, both of Leland.

Blackman has been charged with two counts of murder. He is being held at the Bolivar County Correctional Facility and is awaiting his initial court appearance.
The investigation remains ongoing.
