INDIANOLA, Miss.–Three people were shot and killed and as many as 16 wounded early Sunday in downtown Indianola.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the area of Church St., which is near the Sunflower County Courthouse. When the gunfire began, Indianola Police officers both on and off-duty rushed to help the people who were hurt. The shooting was centered near a club on Church St.
The Enterprise-Tocsin reports one of the victims was a recent graduate of Gentry High School. The two others, all 19, were from Greenville.
Coroner Heather Burton ID’d the victims as Aaron Butler, of Indianola; Marquez Bates and Cameron Lee Butts, both of Greenville.
Police have not arrested anyone and reported the investigation thus far has not shown any motive for the shooting.
Some of the people hit by bullets or ricochets were flown to Jackson hospitals. Others were being treated in Sunflower County.
