STARKVILLE, Miss.–U.S. Sec. of Agriculture Brooke Rollins will make two stops in Mississippi Thursday, neither one of which is in the Delta. But, Rollins has promised to answer questions from reporters at both events. Several matters concerning Mississippi agriculture and Delta farmers are currently being studied by Rollins.
The first event will be at the Miss. State School of Veterinary Medicine, with an announcement expected during that 10 a.m. press conference.
The second event will be at 2:30 in Jackson, with a press conference and announcement at the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation headquarters.
While most of the funding that has been requested for Mississippi farmers as a brace through hard times has either been approved or is under consideration in Congress, issues like whether the USDA office in Stoneville will stay open, a matter of grave importance for the Delta, is under the direct purview of Rollins.
