SOUTHAVEN, Miss.–The death sentence for Martex Abram, who murdered two people and shot a police officer at the Southaven Walmart, was upheld by the Court of Appeals.
Abram’s attorneys had argued that evidence was mishandled by the court and that was grounds for his sentence being overturned, to which the appeals court did not agree.
It was in 2019 that Abram entered the Walmart wearing body armor and started shooting. Store managers Anthony Brown, 40, and Brandon Gales, 38, died, and a police officer was injured.
Abram was found guilty by a jury in 2022 and sentenced to death.
