In response to reports of shots being fired near the 200-block of Railroad Avenue, the Greenville Police Department swiftly moved to investigate the incident. On Friday, August 11, 2023, law enforcement successfully apprehended 39-year-old Ashley Brown, a convicted felon, on allegations of possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime on two separate occasions.

Brown’s arrest follows an extensive investigation into the reported gunfire incident on June 30th. The incident had raised concerns within the community, prompting authorities to take prompt action. Authorities have credited the valuable contributions from the public, including phone calls and anonymous tips, for aiding in Brown’s identification and subsequent capture.

Greenville Police Chief Marcus R. Turner, Sr., expressed gratitude for the community’s active involvement in addressing criminal activities. “We are working daily to help rid our community of criminal activity that may force us to feel like we’re kept in bondage,” Chief Turner stated. “With your continued support, we will make this happen.”
