Attorney Ben Crump Demands Footage be Released from Kadarius Smith Police Chase

LELAND, Miss.–Attorney Ben Crump is demanding the release of video from the early morning hours of March 21, when 17-year-old Kadarius Smith was killed during a chase with city police. But, Leland city fathers say there is no such video.
“We understand that there is a dashcam video that shows us exactly what happened. We don’t have to speculate,” said Crump during a Tuesday press conference broadcast on Instagram from the yard of a church in Leland. “We need the mayor and the city attorney to do their job, based on what’s on that video.”
But, the city attorney told the Associated Press that city police cars do not have dash cam video and city police officers do not have bodycams.
Smith’s mother claims her son was run down by a Leland patrol car, and that she witnessed tire tracks on his back in autopsy photos.
As of yet, no police report has been released to the public.
