Greenville police captured a robbery suspect allegedly involved in two separate incidents. The first incident happened on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, when a local store was robbed. The suspect left the store on foot after the robbery, according to witnesses. The suspect later entered a car, where he allegedly fired shots at another witness. Law enforcement officers managed to locate the suspected vehicle a few hours later.
A day later, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, another similar robbery was reported at Cindy’s Food Mart, located in the 300 block of Ohea Street. The suspect in this case matched the description from the previous incident.
Further investigation led authorities to identify 39-year-old Wilbur Smith, a resident of Greenville, as the suspect in both cases. A warrant was issued for Smith’s arrest, and he was apprehended late Wednesday evening in a local hotel.
Wilbur Smith now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Armed Robbery, three counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and one count of Attempted Murder. He is currently held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility, awaiting his initial court appearance.
