CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of shootings that occurred over the weekend and into Monday night.
The first incident was reported around 10:03 p.m. Sunday at 903 Brown Street in Cleveland, where deputies found that both a home and a vehicle parked in the driveway had been shot into. Deputies also learned that a red Dodge pickup was fired upon while traveling west on Cross Street. A nearby residence at 928 Cross Street was struck by a stray bullet.
On Monday around 4:39 p.m., deputies patrolling the area of 900 White Street heard gunfire. One unoccupied vehicle was hit, and deputies recovered multiple shell casings along with an assault rifle. One person was taken into custody in connection with that incident.
Later that night, at 11:53 p.m., deputies assisted the Mound Bayou Police Department after shots were fired into a home on Frances Street. More than 40 shell casings were recovered, and a vehicle at the Fisher Homes Apartments Complex was also struck.
The Sheriff’s Office believes the incidents are related. The investigation is ongoing.
