Byhalia Standoff: Man in Custody After Holding Toddler Hostage

BYHALIA, Miss.–It took tear gas to get him. but Casey Henson, 36, is in custody and his toddler has been released. Henson is accused of holding both the child’s mother and the child hostage Sunday night and through the day Monday.

Henson is charged with aggravated domestic violence and being a felon with a firearm.
Police were called to the house Sunday night about 11:30 on Hwy. 309 in Byhalia. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Dept. said the man’s wife was able to get away during a domestic struggle of some sort, and call for help.
The toddler was left behind and deputies believe Henson was holding the child hostage, but have not discussed the motive publicly.
About 1:30 Monday afternoon the child was released unharmed and deputies and the SWAT team used tear gas to get Henson to come out.
