CLARKSDALE, Miss.–The City of Clarksdale is considering buying some solar-powered surveillance cameras that could be installed anywhere in the city.
“No wires, no power, no internet needed,” said Frederick Wilson, with Wilson Technologies at a Thursday budget hearing in front of the city’s Board of Commissioners. “So on your cameras you can have a defined area for illegal dumping. If someone goes in that area it will send you a notification.”
Wilson said the cameras have internet connectivity built in that sends the recordings to three different places to prevent hacking and create redundancy.
He said his company’s cameras also have artificial intelligence built in that can help in investigations.
“Say for instance I have a black Chevy truck. You can type in black Chevy truck. It’ll check every camera you have.”
The board may be considering the cameras for the next budget. Greenville recently began a project to build a camera surveillance system.
