CLARKSDALE, Miss. — A Clarksdale man has turned himself in to police after the Clarksdale Police Department previously asked the public for help locating him.
Christopher Smith Jr. voluntarily turned himself in to the Clarksdale Police Department without incident, police said in an update Thursday.
The department had identified Smith in an earlier social media post and asked him to surrender peacefully. Police said Smith frequents the Clarksdale and Bobo communities and encouraged him to allow the legal process to take its course.
Police credited information provided by community members with helping investigators identify Smith and thanked residents and community partners for their assistance.
The department said the investigation remains active. Police did not release additional information about the circumstances of the investigation or any potential charges.
Smith is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
