On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at approximately 11:57 a.m., Clarksdale Police were dispatched to the intersection of Kentucky and South Edwards Street in response to reports of a shooting.
According to authorities, the victim, identified as 36-year-old Roosevelt Walker, was discovered deceased at the scene due to what appeared to be gunshot wounds. His body was located in the center of the street.
Investigators determined that Mr. Walker had succumbed to his injuries from the shooting. The circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event remain unclear.
Later in the day, at approximately 3:50 p.m., investigators took an individual of interest into custody. The apprehension took place within the 600 block of Lincoln Street.
Authorities have not released further information regarding the detained person of interest.
