The Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) in Cleveland, Mississippi, is set to shine the spotlight on the Collage Dance Collective, an extraordinary ballet company making waves not only as a performing arts powerhouse but also for its commitment to diversity in the world of ballet.

Collage Dance Collective, recently recognized as a “Southern Cultural Treasure” by South Arts and the Ford Foundation, has garnered attention for being the largest Black-led performing arts organization in the Southern United States. What sets them apart is their dedication to promoting diversity within ballet, boasting a roster of talented BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) dancers.

Founded 2006 in New York City, Collage Dance Collective quickly made a name for itself with its groundbreaking approach to ballet. In 2007, they received widespread acclaim for their national debut at the Lyric Opera House in Kansas City, Missouri. The company moved significantly a year later, relocating to Memphis, Tennessee, where it became an integral part of the city’s vibrant artistic community.

On Thursday, October 5, BPAC will play host to Collage Dance Collective, offering audiences a unique opportunity to witness their artistry. The day will include a school-time matinee at 11 a.m. and a mainstage performance at 7:30 p.m.
