GREENVILLE, Miss.–Extreme heat was expected to continue for most of the week, with a heat advisory for the Delta at least through Monday afternoon, says National Weather Service forecaster David Cox.

“Hot temperatures and high amounts of moisture will support dangerous conditions and heat stress,” said Cox.

With highs in the mid to upper 90s, heat index values, or what it actually feels like on your skin, were expected to top 105 or higher.

“Hydrate. Make sure to wear light colored clothing. Take more frequent breaks if you do have to be outdoors,” said Cox. He also encourages you to check on pets and neighbors and make sure they have a way to stay cool.

Cox said the best piece of advice is to stay inside if you can.
