Delta Could Expect Severe Weather

YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Severe weather is possible Thursday evening and overnight, with an enhanced risk for storms fueled by damaging winds for the lower part of the Delta.
“Damaging winds up to 75 mph, large hail the size of golf balls and a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out,” said National Weather Service Warning Coordinator Michael Hill, describing Thursday’s threats/
He said the storms likely would not arrive in the Delta until the evening and the system would move quickly.
“Have a plan, especially after 6 p.m. as we look to the west and see how those storms develop,” he said.
Hill said the main threats will be from those strong winds that could bring down trees and power lines.
