BELZONI, Miss.–You may be seeing, and feeling, even hotter temperatures next week after a tropical system moves out of Mississippi. That tropical system, which Thursday was located off the coast of Louisiana, may not bring much relief to Delta counties.
The “cooler” days this week and weekend are expected to be Friday and Saturday, with highs in the low to mid 90s, thanks to some clouds provided by rotating bands from that tropical system.
You could see some showers and perhaps some storms as a result.
But, also as a result humidity is expected to stick around and when the clouds move out, the extreme geat moves right back in.
“It’s gonna feel quite sticky with high temperatures in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees, could be driving heat index values that are gonna push 110,” said National Weather Service forecaster Logan Poole.
He said the rise in temperatures will be gradual.
“It’s gonna really be noticeable early next week into the middle of next week,” he said.
Poole said right now there’s no reason to believe that a cool down would come anytime before the end of next week. Heat advisories and warnings are likely.
