CLEVELAND, Miss.— Delta State University’s art faculty are bringing their creativity to the forefront this fall through a new exhibition at the Fielding Wright Art Center.
The Delta State University Art Faculty Show will run from Oct. 16 through Nov. 20, with an opening reception scheduled for Oct. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. The annual exhibition highlights the diverse artistic practices of Delta State faculty members who balance teaching with professional artmaking.
“Our faculty lead by example,” said Cetin “Chet” Oguz, professor of art and exhibition coordinator. “Their work demonstrates to students that being an artist means engaging with the world—experimenting, questioning, and always creating.”
The exhibition features a range of mediums and perspectives. Greta Koshenina presents hand-stitched cyanotype collages and sculptures exploring spirituality, dreams, and domestic symbolism, while Tasha Huerta’s colorful digital illustrations-turned-monoprints reflect on childhood memories and nature.
Multimedia artist Korkut Akacik uses sound and distorted visuals to challenge perceptions of truth in the digital age, and Oguz contributes abstract paintings inspired by modern social and cultural tensions.
The show emphasizes Delta State’s ongoing commitment to blending artistic innovation with academic excellence. Faculty artists model creative exploration for their students while contributing to broader conversations in contemporary art.
The exhibition will be on view at the Fielding Wright Art Center, 1003 W. Sunflower Road in Cleveland. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed weekends, holidays and during semester breaks.
