CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University is preparing to host its 40th annual Pig Pickin’ on Sept. 5-6 at Statesmen Park.
What began in 1985 as a small alumni gathering has grown into one of the school’s largest traditions, held each year to mark the start of football season. The event will feature a Mississippi Barbecue Network-sanctioned competition, live entertainment from the Delta Music Institute, food vendors, a pep rally and Saturday’s game against North Greenville at Parker Field-McCool Stadium.
