CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University’s Robert E. Smith School of Nursing and Health Sciences will present the 20th Annual Margaret Tullos Field Symposium on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Jacob Conference Center in Ewing Hall. The symposium’s theme, The Digital Revolution: Profound Impact of Technology on Today’s Youth, will explore the influence of technology on younger generations and its implications for social work.
The event, named in honor of former social work professor Margaret Tullos, is open to the public. Community members and Delta State students may attend for free, while licensed social workers and school counselors seeking continuing education units (CEUs) can register for $125. The program offers 6.6 CEUs, including 6.0 for social work and 0.6 for school counselors.
Keynote speakers include Takiva N. Bell, CEO of Impacting Pathways Coaching and Consulting; Maribeth Parker Bowman, LICSW-S, Program Director at the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center; Paula Broome, JD, Director of Training for the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi; and Sgt. Brad Jordan, Tactical Field Officer for the FBI’s Human Trafficking Task Force.
The symposium, launched in 2005 and renamed in 2009 to honor Tullos, has previously addressed topics such as rural social justice initiatives and youth and family advocacy.
