The Art Department at Delta State University has a reason to celebrate as they recently received a substantial donation. An anonymous donor has generously gifted the department with a cutting-edge tool that promises to enhance students’ creative endeavors.
The donation is a Boss HP-5598 High Power CO2 Laser, a powerful apparatus capable of cutting up to 14-gauge sheet metal and performing vector cutting and raster engraving on metal and non-metal materials. With an impressive output of up to 250 watts, this state-of-the-art laser cutter represents a significant upgrade for the department.
Chair of the Art Department, Cetin Oguz, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “It will be a tremendous asset to the department and will set us apart from other programs.”
Previously, students at the department had access to an older model laser engraver for experimentation. However, the arrival of the BOSS HP-5598 marks a new era, opening doors to cutting-edge techniques and creative possibilities previously out of reach.
