The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) has awarded a $4,000 grant to Delta State University’s Delta Music Institute (DMI) Entertainment Industry Studies program. This grant is part of the more than $1.6 million awarded by MAC in Fiscal Year 2023. The funds will specifically support the annual DMI Summer Camp, a program designed to provide high school students hands-on experience in audio engineering, songwriting, and commercial music performance.
The grant is made possible through the ongoing financial support of the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. It will contribute to the overall funding required to organize and execute the DMI Summer Camp, which is vital in introducing young individuals to the Entertainment Industry Studies program at Delta State University.
Richard Tremmel, the Director of the Delta Music Institute, expressed gratitude for the grant, emphasizing the importance of this funding in facilitating the DMI Summer Camp. Tremmel stated, “We are very fortunate to be able to introduce high school students to our Entertainment Industry Studies program at Delta State University through our DMI Summer Camp. Without funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, this would not be possible.”
