TUNICA, Miss.–You will have the responsibility, if you are a qualified elector, to vote for a new state senator in some Delta counties. Special elections have been set for Aug 5, following the approval of new House and Senate districts last month.

If you live in DeSoto and Tate counties and are in Senate District 1, you will have to choose between Michaerl McLendon and Jon Stevenson on the Republican side in the primary. The winner will face Democrat Chris Hanna in the general election.

If you live in Senate District 2 in parts of DeSoto and Tate counties, you will choose between Kelly Andress, Theresa Ison and Robert Walker in the Democratic primary. The winner will face Republican Charlie Hoots in the general election.

If you live in DeSoto County and are in Senate District 19, you will choose Republican Kevin Blackwell and Democrat Diane Black in the general election.

If you live in DeSoto, Tunica, Tate, Quitman and Coahoma counties and are in Senate District 11, you will choose between Reginald Jackson and Abe Hudson, Jr. in the Democratic primary, who will then face Republican Kendall Prewitt in the general election.
