DeSoto County DA Pushes for Drug Lab After Meth Trafficker Sentenced

DeSOTO COUNTY, Miss.–DeSoto County District Atty. Matthew Barton says a drug lab for the county would help police and prosecutors put away more bad guys, like the man who got 10 years for trafficking meth Tuesday.
James Clark, Jr., was sentenced for trafficking meth in Southaven.
Barton said in September of 2023 Clark was found with 61 of MDMA, with intent to sell or distribute. MDMA is also known as “Molly” and is a form of ecstacy.
This case underscores the critical need for a metro drug lab in DeSoto County—something my office has pushed hard for. Unfortunately, the project has stalled due to political delays, but I remain committed to ensuring that this vital resource becomes a reality for our community,” said Barton in a prepared statement.
