SOUTHAVEN, Miss.–A fifth grade teacher at DeSoto Central Elementary School in Southaven is facing several child pornography charges. Mitchell Cantrell, 36, was arrested Tuesday, by Southaven Police.
They say a tip came in saying a DeSoto Central teacher was downloading inappropriate videos. That was March 10.
After investigating, the determination was made that it was Cantrell and he was picked up in Olive Branch and charged with one count of producing, sending, receiving or possessing child pornography.
Following his arrest, he was fired from his job.
No students were involved in any of the illicit activities.
