GREENWOOD, Miss.–If you’ve been out of work because of the damage caused by the tornadoes that hit March 14 and 15, you should be aware that Disaster Unemployment Assistance is available in 11 counties, including three in the Delta, said the Miss. Dept. of Employment Security.
In the Delta those counties include Grenada, Issaquena and Leflore, the counties hit hardest during those days.
You may be eligible if you couldn’t work starting March 16.
Additionally, you should also apply if you are or were self-employed and couldn’t work because of damage, and if the damage prevented you from being able to get to work.
You can apply at the Mississippi Dept. of Employment Security website, through July 22.
