CLEVELAND, Miss. — Delta State University’s Fielding Wright Art Center is presenting Storied Lives: Earth’s Whispers, an MFA thesis exhibition by artist Bonnie Jean Dillon. The show runs through Jan. 9, with a public reception set for Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.

The exhibition features paintings inspired by flowers Dillon photographs in her daily life. She begins each piece with a photographic transfer before layering acrylic paint and abstract elements to explore themes of identity, purpose, and the interconnectedness of living things.

According to DSU, Dillon’s work draws on childhood memories of gardening and coloring with her grandmother. Those early experiences shaped her fascination with color and form, ultimately guiding her toward a career in the arts.

The Fielding Wright Art Center is located at 1003 W. Sunflower Road on the Delta State University campus. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is closed on weekends, holidays and during semester breaks.
