Experts Notice Cheaper Gas Prices in Mississippi

CLEVELAND, Miss.–Some of the cheapest gas in the Delta has been at a station in Cleveland that had it Thursday for $2.64 per gallon. Gas is going up and that is not likely to stop, perhaps for several months, said Patrick DeHaan, head of Petroleum Analysis for Gasbuddy.com.
“I don’t expect gas prices to really slow down until Memorial Day weekend when that transition to summer gasoline is behind us,” he said Thursday, noting that the average for regular in Mississippi was $2.84 per gallon. It has gone up every day this week. DeHaan said the transition is just one of several factors making gas more expensive.
“Supply and demand and economics are shifting,” he said. “We’re getting closer to warmer weather, which means refineries typically do maintenance, which limits how much (gas) they’re able to produce for the next four to eight weeks.”
He also said you’ll likely see $3 gas again.
“I do think it’ll take several weeks if not longer for us to get there. But, I do think we will eventually hit that $3 mark.
Mississippi currently has the fourth cheapest gas in the country. DeHaan expects we will again have the cheapest. But, it may take a few weeks.
