MOUND BAYOU, Miss. — City officials and community leaders will gather Friday, Dec. 19, for the grand opening of the Farmacy Marketplace and the Taborian Food Clinic, a new initiative aimed at expanding access to nutritious food for residents of Mound Bayou and surrounding communities.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at 101 N. Edwards Ave., adjacent to Taborian Hospital.
The project establishes a new farmer’s market and food clinic designed to address food insecurity by increasing access to fresh produce and fresh meat. City leaders say the selection of Mound Bayou as the site reflects a broader effort to meet the nutritional needs of residents across the Mississippi Delta.

The Taborian Food Clinic is the result of a partnership between In Her Shoes, Inc. and the Knights & Daughters of Tabor, two organizations with long-standing commitments to community service and public health.

In Her Shoes, Inc., a nonprofit organization, provides resources and support to underserved communities throughout the Delta and beyond. Its involvement focuses on improving food access in areas where healthy options are limited.
The Knights & Daughters of Tabor bring decades of experience in health-related services, and officials say the collaboration between the two groups has the potential to improve overall community health and quality of life.

City officials welcomed the partnership, noting that increased access to healthy food options is a critical step toward addressing long-term health challenges in the area. They expressed optimism that the Farmacy Marketplace and Taborian Food Clinic will have a lasting, positive impact on Mound Bayou and nearby communities.

The Farmacy Marketplace will operate alongside the clinic, providing residents with local, fresh food options as part of a broader effort to promote wellness and sustainability.
