Fire Damages Commercial Building in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Miss. — Firefighters battled an early morning commercial structure fire Thursday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 West and Lewis Street, according to the Greenville Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 3:16 a.m. after receiving a report of a commercial building on fire.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from the structure. Crews deployed attack lines, established a water supply and began coordinated fire suppression efforts to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas, the fire department said.

Incident command was established to coordinate firefighting operations and ensure the safety of emergency responders throughout the incident.

The Greenville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department assisted by providing traffic control and securing the scene.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released, and no injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
