ROSEDALE, Miss.–Flooding is now expected along the Mississippi River, thanks to rain both here in Mississippi and to the north.
A flood warning has been issued for the river, which is set to go into effect Thursday.
“This is due to the abundant amounts of rain that have fallen in the last week along the Ohio and the Mississippi rivers,” said Mike Edmunston, lead forecaster with the National Weather Service.
“That’ll be channeling down to our portion of the Mississippi River.”
The river is currently at 38 ft. Flood stage is 48 ft. The river is predicted to rise to 53.1 ft. Saturday, April 19 at Greenville. The Weather Service compares that to similar flooding from 1995.
