Humphreys County is the only Delta county where a flu outbreak has been reported in the past two months by the Mississippi State Department of Health. But, you’ll probably still hear of a lot of people having the flu.
That’s partly because of the number of “flu-like cases”, being reported to doctors, but not confirmed with a flu test.
Plenty of people can also have the flu without it being considered an outbreak.
Mississippi is of several states where the Centers for Disease Control, or the CDC, considers people at “high risk” for catching the bug. Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama are also considered high risk because of the number of people with the flu.
Mississippi has been reporting about 100 cases per week for the past several weeks.
