YAZOO CITY, Miss.–Decades ago Yazoo City was the source for books for children all over the world with the “Books for the World” program housed on the Mississippi Chemical Corporation property. Now instead children in the Yazoo County School District will be getting free books.
The district is now part of Dolly Parton’s “Imagination Library”, which so far has supplied more than 287 million books to more than three million kids around the world.
Kids to age five are eligible to get a free book each month in the mail.
Those books are paid for by Parton and community partners.
